A comfortable chat starts with clear boundaries. Decide what to share, leave when you want, and use the controls available to you.

Protect personal details
Keep your home address, financial details, identification documents, and account passwords out of chat. Check your camera background for mail, screens, or other identifying information. Be cautious about moving a new conversation to another service. Read our anonymous chat guide for more ways to protect personal details.
Make consent part of the conversation
Ask before changing the tone of a conversation. Respect a refusal or a request to stop. Do not pressure another person to share contact details, images, money, or more personal information than they want to.
End, block, and report
End a chat immediately if you feel uncomfortable. Block unwanted contact and use Report to flag conduct that breaks the rules. Report a suspected underage participant and stop interacting with them.
Understand privacy limits
Two-person chat describes the format, not a guarantee that another person cannot record their screen. Read the privacy policy to understand the service’s data practices. No online service can guarantee that every interaction will be safe.
